How Campus Rec can help you Stress Less during finals

You’ve worked hard this semester, now it’s time to close the year with Stress Less Week! During finals week, Campus Rec is hosting stress relieving activities to close out the school year. Our group fitness classes will be free all week (December 13th-19th) so be sure to check our website for our Finals Week Group Fitness Schedule. Sport Club Member Highlight: Women's Ice Hockey

Aubrie Weymiller is a member of the Women’s Ice Hockey Team serving as an Officer. She is currently a senior with a focus in Biophysics. Aubrie is currently in her 3rd year as president, and was nominated as Captain this year. According to her teammates, “She excels greatly at both positions, and she is always a positive force for us. She is constantly cheering all of us on, and motivating us. She truly believes in everyone’s potential, and makes sure to remind each of us what we excel at and how we each benefit the team. This semester has been rough on Aubrie, but her attitude has not budged. She is beginning her senior year in a very demanding major, and is looking into grad schools. Between studying for harsh exams, taking the GRE, cramming for homework, and working full time, she is still able to stay the ray of sunshine we all love and need. Finding Connections in College

Coming to college can be a difficult transition. New classes, new routines, and a new community can build onto the pressure that students already feel from being socially insecure. Forming connections between peers and your campus can help dwindle these stresses and create a calm, supportive environment to grow into your future. Creating connections through clubs, sports teams, and on-campus jobs can increase involvement and overall happiness in students. Mental health often gets overlooked by the hustle and bustle of school, work, and other commitments, but it is very important to one’s overall happiness and the ability to succeed. A easy way to start making connections is through hobbies and interests. Finding existing clubs and even creating new clubs on campus can help foster friendship based on similar interests. Attention new students at Rowan: Do you want a great way to meet new people, get active, and have fun? Well, we will be hosting Late Night at the Rec on September 2 nd for our new students coming to Rowan for FREE! This event is the Sunday of move-in weekend, so after you move-in, you can celebrate and have some fun! It will be from 8 P.M. to midnight . We will be having free food (which is always a good thing), a rock wall, a meltdown machine, connect-a-shot games, and fun prizes! The event takes place at the Rec Center and on the Intramural Turf Field. For all of you new students attending Rowan, all you need is a valid student ID, and you are free to come!  Be ready to have great time and meet new friends. We hope to see you at this exciting event!
