End of Year Sport Club Highlight: Rowan Equestrian

--> Most people know about Rowan Campus Rec’s many traditional sport clubs like basketball, baseball, and soccer, but we have always been open to accepting new and unique clubs. One of our most popular unique clubs is Rowan University Equestrian! Beginning in 2012, the Rowan University Equestrian Team (RUET) offers a competitive and fun window into the world of horseback riding and the entire Equestrian field. Although the team does participate in competitions, they are also open to all “horse enthusiasts” and hope to introduce new people to equestrian. Competitive equestrian is a very broad sport with dozens of different competitions under its umbrella. Competitions range from jumping hurdles to judged trots based on the style and control of the horse's walk. February Sport Club Highlight: Women's Ice Hockey

February Sport Club Highlight The season is coming to a close for our winter sport clubs and a lot of them are seeing well-deserved playoff action as a result of their hard work. Women’s Club Hockey has been one of our most successful competitive clubs, recently winning the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC) D2 Championship in 2015 and the D3 DVCHC Championship in 2017. This season, they returned to Division 2 looking to bring their success back to a more competitive division. After a hot 6-2 start to the season, Rowan faced some midseason struggles losing three straight games in December and January. The losing streak included two losses to their rivals, the University of Pennsylvania and a loss to a Villanova team that was 2-6 heading into the game. November Sport Club Highlight: Rugby

November Sport Club Highlight   The Fall semester is in full swing and that means our fall sport clubs are in the heart of their seasons! One of our most successful and competitive sport club is Rugby, for both men and women. Due to an increase in competitive levels and member participation, the men’s program now supports two teams- one in Division 1-AA and the other in Division 3.   The women compete on the Division 2 level. Men’s Rugby is coming off of back-to-back Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC) Championships and show no signs of slowing down this season. Coming off of a big 77-19 win over Villanova they are currently 4-1 on the year and 3-0 in the conference sitting at the top of the East Division standings. The team also leads the division in total points with 141 and Rowan players lead the division in other key categories: John Dormann leads in player points with 39 and Justin Sangster leads in tries with 5.
