February: American Heart Month

--> February is American Heart Month! Campus Rec wants to join in and raise awareness about the importance of heart health. The American Heart Association suggests that adults get at least 150 minutes of physical activity each week. That may seem overwhelming to fit into a busy schedule but once broken down, it can be very achievable! For example, try breaking it up into 30 minutes of exercise, 5 days a week.   Hopefully finding time to fit in a 30-minute workout seems more realistic.   This option also allows for 2 days of rest.   But of course, the more time you spend exercising, the better the benefits will be! Tips for Eating Healthy in College

--> Between exams, homework, and a maintaining a social life, many college students find that eating at the dining hall or opting for fast food is the most convenient choice.   However, eating healthy and maintaining balanced nutrition can just as easily be incorporated into someone’s daily routine! Here are some tips for eating healthy in college: 1.      Pack meals ahead of time- Set aside a couple hours only one day a week where you can cook and prepare all of your food.   Throughout the week you won’t have to worry about what to eat next because your food will already be made. 2.      Drink water- Swap out all beverages for water!   I know it’s tempting to get Dunkin’ every morning, but save your time, money, and calories by opting for water. 3.      Eat breakfast- Having breakfast every morning will help control your hunger throughout the rest of the day.   Some foods y...
