How Campus Rec can help you Stress Less during finals


You’ve worked hard this semester, now it’s time to close the year with Stress Less Week!

During finals week, Campus Rec is hosting stress relieving activities to close out the school year.

Our group fitness classes will be free all week (December 13th-19th) so be sure to check our website for our Finals Week Group Fitness Schedule.

Join us on Thursday, December 13th for Succulents & Self Care. Come plant succulents from 5-8pm in the L-Shape Room in the Rec Center. Did you know plants are great for your health? According to NBC News,

"Houseplants are good for your health — and not just for their visual beauty. Why? They essentially do the opposite of what we do when we breathe: release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. This not only freshens up the air, but also eliminates harmful toxins. Extensive research by NASA has revealed that houseplants can remove up to 87 per cent of air toxin in 24 hours. Studies have also proven that indoor plants improve concentration and productivity (by up to 15 percent!), reduce stress levels and boost your mood — making them perfect for not just your home but your work space, too."

After you plant your succulents, join us for Candlelit Yoga with Tami from 8:30-9:30pm in the Group Exercise Room. Yoga has extensive physical and mental health benefits such as: improving respiration, energy and vitality, maintaining a balanced metabolism, and helping manage stress.

On Friday, December 14th we will be hosting a meditation room in the group exercise room from 5-10pm. The Mayo Clinic reports that, "Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health." 

On Friday from 6-9pm, we will also be offering FREE smoothies and holiday movies in the Rec Center Conference Room!

And finally, on Monday, December 17th and Tuesday, December 18th from 5-9pm join us in the Rec Center Lobby to check out our Snack Stations. We will be offering goodies such as stress balls, coffee, tea, adult coloring books, and more! On these same days, our conference room is available as a silent study space from 5-10pm so drop in and get some studying done in a new location.


Make sure you make some time for yourself during finals to visit our Stress Less week and then have a fun and safe holiday break.
